Echoing these words of Jawaharlal Nehru and with an intend to prepare the present generation to tackle the real-life situations and tuning them to become the positive contributors to their community, B Ed. Curriculum calls to organize a community living camp for the academic year 2020-2022. Owing the proposed curricular objectives, Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud in collaboration with IQAC flagged off the five-day Community living camp “SAMANWAYAM” imbibing the tagline “Learning to live together” on Monday, February 28,2022. Even Covid 19 pandemic couldn’t squeeze the life out of the camp participants. Although the Covid 19 protocol restricts the camp into a non-residential one, the members were set out to transform the apparently
Objectives of the community living camp

• To promote social accommodation and broaden the mental abilities of the student-teachers. 
• To promote the democratic nature and involvement of the student-teacher in planning and
implementing educational activities. 
• To develop critical thinking about the issues related to the policies/approaches in education. 
• To inquire in to the cultural, social, scientific, educational and environmental aspects of a
 community. 
• To develop an interest to train the body and mind for a well-balanced personality.

BROCHURE OF THE PROGRAMME
DAY 1: Monday, 28/02/2022

INAUGURAL CEREMONY: 9.30 am to 10.30am
The activities of Samanwayam, the community living camp for the academic year 2020-2022 kicked off with an official inauguration ceremony which started at 9:30am at Research Room, GCTE after a formal registration. The programme commenced with a prayer by Darsana.V S, second year B.Ed. student (Commerce optional). The ceremony was hosted under the guidance of Dr. Jayasree T.K, principal, GCTE, who delivered the presidential address. Nandakripa, Second Year B Ed. Student of Malayalam Optional welcomed the gathering. The programme was officially inaugurated by Shri. Kishore N.K the renowned Malayalam cine artist, by lighting the lamp. He dwelled on the need of moulding the current prospective teachers into an ideal, extraordinary, devoted preceptor with a definite identity. He also highlighted on fostering value-oriented attitude among the upcoming generation. He transformed the normal classroom ambience into a dynamic sparkling experience. Dr. V.K Sobha, Vice Principal GCTE, reiterated the need of value-oriented education and to instill an understanding among the students.Dr. V. K Santhosh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. Joly S, Staff Secretary, GCTE conveyed the felicitation speech.Abdul Basheer A, anchored the event.  The official ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Krishna S Jayan, Union General Secretary.
Session 1: 11.00am to 12.30pm

 The first session of the five-day camp was headed by Dr. Justin Padamadan, the renowned clinical psychologist on the topic “Teacher Effectiveness: Psychological Factors. He highlighted the need of having a healthy mental lifestyle especially for teachers. He defined happiness as the ability to learn to deal with stress and generalized the current scenario of our world as “millions living in a lonesome world.” He motivated the student teachers in inculcating values and humour in class focusing on the academic area, family, social area and personal area of students. He also noted down the qualities of an efficient teacher as being approachable, reliable, trustworthy, honest and a model for the students. He concluded his presentation with a reminder that a teacher is not just a teacher but also a counselor. 
Lini Suri L, second Year Bed student of Malayalam welcomed the gathering and Sister Smitha,second Year Bed student of English proposed the vote of thanks.
Session 2: 1.30 pm to 3.45 pm

The second session, which resumed after the lunch break, was handled by Dr. Thulaseedhara Kurup, Honorary Director,Stage India Performing Arts Study and Research Center. He led his class on "Theater as a Teaching Technique".He conferredon encompassing theatre techniques in classroom teaching and on how to use the subjects in a full-fledged manner to deal the students in an interesting way. He highlighted on the need of transacting the content in a clear and accessible manner and demonstrated the theatre tricks to be included in class with certain exercises. The session was carried out in a lively manner by including activities and exercises that entrust the full participation of the student teachers. Sreeja P J, second Year Bed student of Malayalam welcomed the guest and Renjini P, Second Year student from Natural Science proposed the vote of thanks. Day 2: Wednesday 02/03/2022

The second day of our five-day community living camp “SAMANWAYAM” commenced with a prayer by Haripriya R, second year B Ed student of Sanskrit department. It was followed by the presentation of the first day camp report by Krishna S Jayan, second year B Ed student of English department and unveiling of the camp newspaper “Vidhooshaka Vrithantham” by Nandakripa (B Ed second year Malayalam) in the presence of Dr Jayasree T K, Principal GCTE, Dr Kumar, Camp coordinator, Santhosh IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Rahul V R, Dr. Issac Paul and Shiba teacher. The newspaper was designed by incorporating sarcastic and witty comments exposing the highlights and vulnerabilities of the previous session.
Session 1: 10.00am to 12.30pm

 The first session of the day was handled by renowned Life Skill trainer  Sri. S Sreenath, on the topic Life Skills.The young generation in recent times lack the psychosocial competence that enables them to adjust effectively to the changing need and challenges in everyday life. Teachers should equip themselves in preparing the students in facing the real-life situations and training them in learning to live together. This need persuaded us to conduct a class on life skill education by amalgamating its competencies with teaching techniques. Sri. S Sreenath, the vibrant Life Skill educator lead the session with his excellent talent and experience. 

He revitalized the drowsy minds of the participants and transformed the classroom into a funhouse. He introduced unique techniques in transacting the content in a raveling manner. Accordingly, he segmented the class into five groups: Homo sapiens. Luminous Meridian, Challenge Hunter, Super fighters and Ravishing Raptors. He added count downs in choosing the team leaders, team names etc. in order to make the game more exciting. He elaborated on the concept of life skills such as Leadership, team spirit, creative thinking, presence of mind and confidence. He defined leadership as “getting things done through others, a leader as one who leads a group to achieve a goal.” Rather than clinging to the traditional lecture method, he launched many exercises and activities to carry off the necessary components. He even turned a small leaf into an aid in voicing his ideas. 
After a small refreshment, he elevated the classroom ambience into a dynamic sparkling experience. He used Tableau as an innovative recipe in flavouring his session. 
He concluded his session by reminding the prospective teachers about their divine profession and prompting them to mould a generation with virtue, truth and piety. Lal Krishna M G, second year B ed student of mathematics welcomed the gathering and Felix L, second year student of Geography proposed the vote of thanks.
Session 2: 1.30 pm to 3.45 pm

 The second session of the day, which resumed after the lunch break was handled by Anees Ban, Athulya and Jaya Mary,representatives of the Kerala Police, empowering the students on Self Defense. Self Defence Training Program is a unique initiative of Kerala Police under its Community Policing Project. 
This project aims at empowering women through comprehensive awareness and practical training program. They exposed the threats faced by the weaker strata of the society and highlighted the role of teachers in guiding the students away from such vulnerabilities. They reiterated the three A’s - Awareness, Alert, Avoidance as the key solution to be imbibed by every citizen in this current milieu
.Training included psychological tips, awareness on pro-women laws, personality training and self-defence techniques. The training aims to equip women mentally and physically to tackle harassments and atrocities. They demonstrated the self-defence skills, that could help women protect themselves from any kind of attack and harassment they face in daily life including on buses and trains, closed spaces such as lifts and ATMs and other public places. The techniques could also equip us to fight acid attacks, chain-snatching, domestic violence and other sexual assaults. They concluded the session by referring the help line numbers and services that were offered by the Kerala police. Annamma P second year B Ed student Malayalam welcomed the guests and Merlin V Boban second year B ed student from physical science proposed the vote of thanks. The events of the day came to an end with the National Anthem.
Day 3: Thursday 03/03/2022

The third day of our five-day community living camp "SAMANWAYAM" commenced with a prayer by Darsana.V and Saranya Prasanth, second year B.Ed. students of Commerce and English department. It was followed by the presentation of the secondday camp report by Chandana, second yearB. Edstudent of English department and reading newspaper
" Vidhooshaka Vrithantham" byNandakripa (B.Ed. second year Malayalam) in the presence of Dr. Jayasree T. K., PrincipalG.C. T. E., Dr. Kumar, Camp coordinator, Rahul Sir, Shiba teacher and Santhosh Sir
Session 1: 10.00am to 11.00am

Thefirst session of the day was handled by the Zumba fitness trainer Smt. Anjali Jaindhan. Zumba helps to burn calories during one hour of mid- to high intensity training. Dr. Sini Abraham, HOD physical education, welcomed the chief guest in the presence of Dr. Rahul V R, HOD, Department of Psychology.  It was a very good session and everyone enjoyed it verymuch. She played manysongs which ensuredfull participation and engagement of thestudents in the session. Allthe studentsparticipated and enjoyed the training. She was very vibrant. This session continued for an hour. Akshara, second year student of mathematics welcomed the gathering and Sr. Sheebamol second year student of Hindi proposed the vote of thanks.
Session 2: 11.10am to 12.30pm

After a small refreshment, we visitedGovt. Model L.P. School, Thycaud under the guidance of Kumar sir, Santhosh Sir and Shiba teacher. The honorable H.M. treated the prospective teachers with keen interest. The school has a beautiful garden. The walls of the classrooms have been painted to resemble themes from class I and class II text books in order to welcome the children back the campus after the COVID-19 outbreak. The traditional classrooms were converted into smart classrooms making it more colourful and child friendly. The school also has a vegetable garden. Suresh Kumar, second year student of Social Science proposed the vote of thanks addressing M. Shaji, Headmaster and the entire school.
Session 3: 1.30pm to 3.30pm

The third session of the day, whichresumed after the lunch break was handled by advocate Bhuvanendran Nair.V on the topic 'Gender justice in constitution of India'. 
            He took the class in a simple manner. He narrated the laws related to a person's life from his birth to death. He explained about the most important right that is ‘To Live with Human Dignity’. and also explained aboutright to born, right to live, right to food security, Right to Employment, Right to Marry and Right to Kill. He listed many famous cases such as ArunaShanbaugcase vs State of Maharashtra etc. He gavea clear picture about the types of abuses likeverbal abuse,physical abuses, economical abuses, sexual abuses and psychological abuses that a woman faces from her society or family. The session was veryinteractive and students cleared their doubts at the end of the session. Nandakripa, Suresh and sister Sheeba enquired doubts on punishments anddignity of labour respectively. Whileclearing their doubts he clarified that ourcountry is following reformative theory ofpunishment and only rarest of rare case will get death penalty. So, the class helpedto have awareness on special laws. Abdul Basheer second year B.Ed. student of Commerce welcomed the guest and Sree Lekha second yearB.Ed. student from Physical Science proposed the vote of thanks. Day 4: Friday 04/03/2022

The fourth day of our five-day community living camp “SAMANAWAYAM “commenced with a prayer by AishwaryaR.S, second year B.Ed. student of Sanskrit department. It was followed by the presentation of the third day camp report by Priyanka T. S, second year B.Ed. student of Hindi department. The camp newspaper “Vidhooshaka Vrithantham” was presented by Nandakripa, second year B.Ed. student Malayalam department in the presence of Dr. Jayasree T. k, principal GCTE, Dr. Kumar, camp coordinator, Dr. Santhosh, IQAC coordinator and Dr. Shaiba.
Session 1: 10.00am to 12.30pm

 Poets are mysterious, they hide a sea of emotions in a single word. Poetry is the rhythm of life shedding light on the world it helps us to understand and appreciate the world around us. Adhering to this, the renowned poet Girish Puliyoor who, handled the seventh session on the topic "poetry and life" carried off the entire class in his chariot of imagination.
 Mr Gireesh Puliyoor is a poet cum recitator in Malayalam language. He has published many poems; prose works and audio albums. He shared the experiences about his poetic life and performed his poems in a rap freestyle which encouraged the student teachers. His talk gave emphasize to the beauty of our mother tongue, motherland, culture and the world reflecting universal love and harmony. He conveyed many messages to the students through his poeticwords. Herecited hisanthology namely ‘Kadappuram’, ‘Orma’, ‘Pedithappan’ etc. He highlighted the poem ‘Pedithappan ’about the fear of people celebrating Onam during covid-19 pandemic. He defined God as the true love and peace. He concluded the session by reciting the celibrated Keerthanam of Sree Narayana Guru. Sister Sajini, second year English welcomed the gathering and Praveen Kumar, second year student department of Natural science proposed vote of thanks.
Session 2: 1.30 pm to 3.45 pm

 The second session of the day after the lunch break was dedicated to the cultural programmes of the students. The cultural competence is an essential skill for the prospective teachers, in order to reach their full potentials. The programmes include, solo songs, duet songs, group dance and group song performed by the students. The session was very enjoyable and entertaining. The session concluded with a group song as a tribute to the friendship and love shared by the circle.an a Zumba dance performance. Abhinand R. S, second year B.Ed.student, department of social science welcomed the gathering and SaranyaShaktidharan second year year B.Ed. student of natural science department proposed the vote of thanks. The events of the day came to an end with the national anthem.

Day 5; Saturday 05/03/2022

The fifth and last day of our five-day community living camp “SAMANWAYAM “commenced with a prayer by Talhana Rahman, second year B Ed. student of Malayalam department. It was followed by the presentation of the fourth day camp report by Aranya, second year B Ed student of Geography department and presentation ofcamp newspaper “vidhooshaka vrithantham” by Nandakripa (B Ed second year Malayalam) in the presence of Dr Jayasree T K, Principal GCTE and Dr Kumar, Camp coordinator.
The first session of the day was planned to be handled byShri.Ravichandran.C,Asst.Professor of English, GPTC, Ezhukone, Kottarakara. He is also a renowned Indian author, scientific thinker, public speaker andblogger. Unfortunately, Sir was tested covid positive and was unable to attend the camp. To avoid student’s disappointment the principal,suggested the student to perform cultural activities during the first session. Owing to these words, they turned the session into a nostalgic gathering which included performances like solo songs, duet songs, group songs and group dance. The first session ended with an outstanding ramp walk of boys and girls of Second year B.Ed.

VALEDICTORY SESSION: 11.15am to 12.30pm

The second session of the day, which resumed after the teabreak 
was valedictory session. Neethu. G, second year B.Ed. student of social Science department welcomed all the respected Faculties. The Presidential address was delivered by Student Coordinator, Suresh Kumar, Second year B.Ed. student of Social Science department. He shared his life experiences about charity and his words touched each and every person’s heart and made all of us to think about charity in depth. Ashmitha Stanley, Student coordinator,second year B.Ed. student of Geography Department also expressed her views about the Camp. Inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Jayasree T.K, Principal of GCTE, Thycaud. She dwelled on the need of moulding the current prospective teachers into an ideal, extraordinary, devoted preceptor with a definite identity. 
She also highlighted on fostering value-oriented attitude among the upcoming generation. Dr. V.K Santhosh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator, GCTE, Thycaud gave the Felicitation. Sir highlighted that a teacher must be a social engineer and should contribute whenever possible, in each positive developments that take place in our society. 
Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. S. Kumar, camp coordinator. Sir acknowledged the sincerity, hard work and commitment of our Principal Dr. JayasreeT. K, Dr. V. K Santhosh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator and thestudents of Second year B.Ed. which led to the glorious success of Samanwayam. 
The session proceeded forward with the distribution of Certificates to the students. After giving away the certificates,students were invited to the podium to share their feedbacks. The events of the day and the five- day community camp came to an end with the National Anthem, engraving lots of cherishable memories in everyone’s heart.
